I also agree that the hyped-up role models that are present in the various media are not really that representative of true beauty. It's what is inside the person and not the package it is in that is the most important part. Yes, the glamour model (size zero) may meet (western) man's ideal of beauty, but some have the same IQ as a bran flake. I worry about my two daughters who are growing up in this image conscious world - I hope that they never experience some of the horrors of anorexia or bulimia nor get 'hung up' over their appearance or (worse) what people think of them. I suspect, however, that they probably will get some of the latter and just hope that they don't experience any of the former. Great post Luciana.
