An obvious entry, but really, nobody likes them, do they?
Traffic wardens per se are not a bad thing. The fundamental problem with a Traffic Warden is their inability to see anything other than black or white (or lines of yellow) – “I’m just stopping for three minutes to unload my car” – TICKET.
Couple that flaw with an appetite for power somewhere on the anti-social side of Genghis Khan, and you see that we have a real social ill developing.
Enough said.

Maybe they work on commission? I swear they lurk around the corners where there are loading spaces, or double yellow line in a completely deserted street and then as soon as you or the driver walks out of the car, back facing the warden, the monster runs up to your car, “tags” it, and runs back to its hiding spot! Ever seen Tango’s Happy Slapping ads? That actually came from observing how traffic wardens operate!
They certainly can find the desparate mother whose child immediately needs the loo, so she parks, leaves parking disc on wrong time, runs to the loo with said child for 2 minutes, then comes back to find she’s been Ticketed.
It happened 35 years ago, but is still burning a hole in my heart!
To add insult to injury, I paid the fixed penalty… but the council/court mislaid the payment (though cashed the cheque) and wrote to my then husband to take him to court. Explain that away… we didn’t last!
Traffic warden are a nightmare, got 600 pounds fines last month in London. They don t allow you to stop, to unload… Quite a few of them are illegal immigrant. It’s time to regulate that profession, enough is enough.
This afternoon 6 of them fining in one street… Scavengers.
NCP is making a fortune.
